A Thanksgiving Prayer
by Samuel F. Pugh
"O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency,
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen."

Leigh and Lindsey with David Hall |
Dear Ones,
Leigh and I just returned from the Renfrew conference in Philadelphia, where our new book, The Religion of Thinness, was being debuted. Although it's not yet available in stores, many of the conference participants had already heard good things about it and were (almost) as excited as we were. More than 100 people wanted copies! Michelle Lelwica, the author, gave a fantastic talk, partly due to the material, but also because she's a college professor who knows how to hold an audience and answer thoughtful questions in an intelligent manner.
Did I mention we're excited?!
We were also happy to be out of our office and surrounded by colleagues who are good listeners, enthusiastic about their jobs, and in most cases hilariously funny. It made unpacking 56 boxes of books a lot easier!
We're now working on our 30th anniversary edition of the Eating Disorders Resource Catalogue. Let us know if you want copies to distribute. Click Here for more information.
Happy Thanksgiving. We are grateful for you,
Lindsey
P.S. Here we are with our good friend, David Hall, Ph.D., who photographed the entire conference (and was a speaker on couple's treatment).

"Now that I'm living in my body, I can connect more easily on a soul-to-soul level with people around me. I do my best to see others for who they really are on the inside, and they can see the real me too. Interestingly, I've learned that attraction between people is all about connection. People are attracted to my energy, to my soul, not to my body like I used to think, and that feels good. I have finally discovered peace at home." From Goodbye Ed, Hello Me by Jenni Schaefer |
