Ovidio Bermudez, MD, FAAP, FSAHM, FAED, CEDS
Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Services
Dr. Ovidio Bermudez is the Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Services at Eating Recovery Center in Denver, Colorado. He holds an academic appointment as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He holds former academic appointment at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Florida. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Bermudez is a Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Eating Disorders Association and Emeritus Board member of the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT) which he co-founded. He is Vice-President and co-founder of the Oklahoma Eating Disorders Association (OEDA). He chairs the Medical Care Special Interest Group and the Hispano-Latino-American Chapter of the Academy for Eating Disorders. Dr. Bermudez is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and member of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals. Dr. Bermudez has lectured nationally and internationally on eating disorders, childhood obesity, and other topics related to adolescent and young adult healthcare and has been recognized for his dedication and advocacy in the field of eating disorders.
Emmett Bishop, Jr., MD, FAED, CEDS
Medical Director of Adult Services
Emmett Bishop, Jr., MD, FAED, CEDS, has more than 20 years experience in the treatment of eating disorders and is currently Medical Director of Adult Services at Eating Recovery Center, an eating disorder treatment hospital he co-founded with colleague Dr. Ken Weiner in October 2008. Dr. Bishop has served on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals since 1993 and is a past president. He has been a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders since its inception in 1993 and currently is an Academy Fellow. Dr. Bishop is a member of the Editorial Board of Eating Disorders Journal of Treatment and Prevention and has been an editorial reviewer for the American Journal of Psychiatry, as well as other professional journals.
Ken Weiner, MD, FAED, CEDS
Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Ken Weiner, MD, FAED, CEDS, is the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of the state-of-the-art Eating Recovery Center in Denver, Colorado. Along with Dr. Emmett Bishop, their 50 years of combined experience in treating Eating Disorders yielded a medically-based, visionary, center that offers the highest-quality continuum of care. Dr. Weiner is a nationally-recognized and award-winning, psychiatrist, professor, lecturer, co-author, director, and fellow.

Carolyn Jones, RN, LPC, CEDS
Director of Nursing
Carolyn has specialized in eating disorders and body image for more than 16 years. She holds a BS in nursing and an MS in counselor education. Carolyn has been a registered nurse since 1976, a national certified counselor since 1994 and a licensed professional counselor since 1996. During her career, she worked at the Bathesda Eating Disorders Program and at the Eating Disorder Center of Denver; she also co-developed an outpatient eating disorders program in Laramie, WY in 1995. Carolyn is a member of the American Nurses Association and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
Marla Scanzello, MS, RD
Director of Dietary Services
Marla Scanzello is committed to helping individuals with eating disorders develop a healthy relationship with food. She has worked with patients at multiple levels of care at Cambridge Eating Disorders Center and Klarman Eating Disorders Center at McLean Hospital in Massachusetts. She also has experience working with diabetes, GI disorders, heart disease, and many other conditions as an outpatient dietitian at Kaiser Permanente. A registered dietitian, she received her BS in Nutrition from the University of Arizona. She completed her dietetic internship at Tufts-New England Medical Center and received a Master's degree in Nutrition from Tufts University.
Enola Gorham, MSW, LSW
Clinical Director of Adult Services
Enola Gorham has been an administrator and a clinician in the health care field for more than 20 years. Her background is in understanding and growing healthy family systems and effective recovery environments. In her early career, Enola was involved with building community support systems for individuals with chronic mental illness. Ms. Gorham did her master level work at the University of Pennsylvania, as an adult student, while raising her three sons. She then spent six years as the Residential Director, and Director of Social Work at Melmark Inc., a long term care facility for individuals with mental retardation and brain injury. Enola and her family moved to England for three years, where she had a private practice and worked in the Priory Health Care System. It was during this time that she began to see that many of her clients were struggling with eating disorders. Enola began to specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. Upon her return to the United States, Enola and her family settled in the Denver area, where she began working at the Eating Disorders Center of Denver. She spent five years as a family therapist in this setting. Now Enola is enjoying the opportunity to bring together her knowledge of Eating Disorders, family dynamics and recovery environments in her role as the Clinical Director of Adult Services at Eating Recovery Center.
Elizabeth Davis, PsyD
Clinical Director of Child and Adolescent Services
Elizabeth Davis, PsyD, is the Clinical Director of Child and Adolescent Services at Eating Recovery Center. She graduated with a Doctorate in Psychology from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Davis completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at The Children's Hospital of Denver, specializing in individual, family and group therapy with The Eating Disorders Program, Anxiety and Mood Disorder Outpatient Clinics, and General Psychiatry Inpatient Units. Her integrative therapy approach spans psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based treatment and family-based therapy (FBT) modalities. She also has extensive training and experience with psychological testing, including both cognitive and emotional assessments. Dr. Davis aids patients' and families' efforts to become more aware and mindful of their individual strengths and goals.
Bonnie Brennan,
Clinical Director of Partial Hospitalization Program
Bonnie M. Brennan's love for psychology and the human spirit began in her first courses in psychology in high school and has continued throughout her life. She has a Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Colorado at Denver. Furthermore, she is recognized by the State of Colorado as a Licensed Professional Counselor and is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. Bonnie has worked in a variety of treatment settings in her 15+ years of experience, such as outpatient private practice, intensive outpatient, residential and inpatient settings. Aside from her expertise in working with eating disorders she thrives on helping individuals find values directed lives and assisting in growing the minds of her patients and the therapists she supervises.
Karen Trevithick, PsyD
Clinical Director of Outpatient Services
Karen Trevithick, Psy.D., is Clinical Director of Outpatient Services for Eating Recovery Center. In this role, she provides leadership for counseling services, identifies and implements strategies for operation, and facilitates counseling and group activities for patients. Dr. Trevithick has more than 10 years of experience in eating disorder treatment. Most recently, she served as clinical director for the Eating Disorder Center of Miami, where she developed and facilitated an intensive group program and provided individual and family therapy for patients struggling with eating disorders, as well as post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and substance abuse. Prior to her work at the Eating Disorder Center of Miami, Dr. Trevithick served as a psychologist for Alternatives Counseling Center and as the coordinator for Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital's eating disorder program. During her tenure at Alexian, Dr. Trevithick co-developed, managed and cultivated the Center's nationally recognized eating disorder intensive outpatient and partial programs. Dr. Trevithick received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Brandeis University, as well as both a master's degree and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
