I am a psychotherapist who has treated adolescents and adults with eating disorders since 1996. I run support groups and work with a nutritionist.
Treating eating disorders since 1996
I am one of several therapists at the Therapy Center, and my specialty is eating disorders. I treat females and males using psychotherapy and refer most of my clients to a nutritionist for an eating plan. Eating disorders are multidimensional in nature, and I expose my patients to a wide variety of treatment modalities. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and ask my clients to do written assignments, read recommended books, and attend a support group, which I facilitate. Sometimes I use experiential approaches such as art therapy, as well. For adolescent patients with anorexia nervosa, I often suggest that parents learn about the Maudsley Method and have family assisted meals. My interest in this field began as a graduate student, when I discovered that my fiancé had bulimia.
