Originally broadcast in 2000 and narrated by Susan Sarandon, this film investigates the causes, complexities, and treatments for anorexia and bulimia. It is appropriate for parents, teachers, groups, individuals in recovery, and young people of middle school age and up. Note: brief reference is made to cutting behavior, which may be unsuitable or triggering for some.

Roughly divided into eight sections, it covers risk factors, prevalence, medical consequences, cultural pressures, dieting, some treatment options, and the importance of addressing underlying issues and not just the food behaviors. It is interspersed with the stories of three women, a ballet dancer, an ex-model (Kate Dillon), and a marathon runner, all of whom have struggled with an eating disorder as well as commentary by experts from the eating disorder the field, including Tim Walsh, Joan Brumberg, Ruth Streigel-Moore, and Susan Willard.

This is a well-made, thorough film with good information about a sensitive topic.
