Allison, PhD, is Professor of Biostatistics, Head of the Section on Statistical Genetics, and Director of the NIH-funded Clinical Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has authored over 300 publications and edited five books. He has won several awards and serves or has served, on the editorial boards of ten scientific publications including Behavior Genetics, International Journal of Eating Disorders, International Journal of Obesity, and Nutrition Today. Dr. Allison's research interests include obesity, quantitative genetics, clinical trials, and statistical and research methodology. Monica L. Baskin, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior and Associate Scientist in the UAB Center for Health Promotion and the UAB Clinical Nutrition Research Center. She obtained a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Emory University and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University. Her primary research interests involve behavioral interventions for the prevention and treatment of obesity, sickle cell disease, and minority health and health disparities. She is skilled in designing, implementing and evaluating theory-based and culturally-competent interventions. |
